Women In Politics….

According to the 2006 AFL/CIO’s Ask a Working Woman’s Survey women are concerned about their future.  Today’s working women worry about basic economic issues such as pay not keeping up with rising costs, inability to afford health insurance and lack of retirement security.  Affordable health care is the top concern of women who responded to the survey.  What can we do to address these concerns?  Get involved in the political process.  Women are more than 50% of the population, yet they are fewer than 25% of policy makers.  Only 16% of the United States congress and 18% of Governors are women.  We need to run for office, elect women to office, and donate to campaigns of working women.

We need to tell all candidates where we stand on the issues important to working families.  With a presidential election in 2008, now is a good time to educate the candidates of issues important to working women and their families.  Go to the follow websites to learn more and to take action.
