Minutes from the Retiree Officer Chapter Call February 8, 2021

On our last conf call we discussed staying home and staying healthy and what we can do to support each other. We also need to reach out to our retirees.

1. AT&T Legacy T – Our contract expires in 2023. Open enrollment is closed, many have decided to wait until next year to see how things go with the new HC option. AT&T mailed a letter to all retirees about the life insurance and death benefit. I forwarded to you what Kim Wilburn said.

2. Nokia/Goodman - After a 2 ½ year battle for the preservation of the Installation Bargaining Unit, CWA has reached an agreement with both Nokia and third-party vendor Goodman Communication Services. We have a collective bargaining agreement now with Goodman Communication Services and it runs through 2027. There were 174 members that took retirement from Nokia and began the process of hiring on at Goodman the next day. We need to reach out to those and invite them to join our RMC and chapters.

3. Lumen –The new name will be on the website but the same login will work. No changes to our contract. That includes our benefits such as pension, life insurance, concession, HRA, etc. CTL concession number is 800-659-3279. Make sure if you have a Health Reimbursement account that you are getting reimbursed. Contract is up end of 2023.

Lumen retirees that are pre-Medicare, and on the CDHP plan and have a HRA; when they go onto Medicare the money they have in their HRA will go with them, except they will not be able to use it like they do the Medicare HRA. It will be kept separate. If you are pre-Medicare and have questions contact Judy.

Lumen: If you are going onto Medicare in the coming months, we can help you with the steps and getting set up. Three or four months before turning 65 Lumen will send you info about the fact they will move you off their HC plan, you can stay on the dental if you choose. Contact Judy for that help.

Lumen: Remember the address for the YSA is PO Box 661147, Dallas, TX 75266- 1147, they are no longer forwarding mail if sent to old address in Woodlands, TX or FL. This is the PO Box for all retirees.

Lumen: Lots of questions on suspend versus waive for our benefits. No longer can we waive our benefits, the word has been changed to suspend. This goes for medical and dental benefits under the Lumen plan. Another change, there is a onetime opportunity to suspend your coverage and still be able to enroll in the plan at a later date.

4. Avaya – They have finally reached a signed contract Modification and Extension Agreement. Any questions contact Teresa Douglas on our benefit page.

5. Aptify is not up and running for retirees. We had received our “gold card” report and a new LT member report. System crashed. Cristi has been rebuilding it. Corrections should be sent to Cristi now. Hopefully we will be able to get a new chapter sheets by end of March.

6. What are we doing to grow our retiree chapters while shut down? Several were sending emails with updates, having zoom or conf calls, calling chapter members. It was great to hear so many reaching out to their retirees.

7. I sent out a welcome letter to 600 new retirees around our 14 states last October.

8. District 7 Conference will be April 8th & 9th, 2021 it will be virtual this year- no agenda yet.

9. CWA Convention August 16th & 17th in New Orleans, in 2021.
