Presidents Report March 2021

I want to congratulate our seven new stewards out of CWA 7800. I am hopeful there will be another class soon so that we can get more people through the training. We are almost done with the 2nd fiscal quarter and we are doing good with the budget. We have been working on getting email addresses for all of our members as well as increasing our contributions to the Political Action Fund and reducing the number of non-members. We are doing pretty good on the email list and the non-members but we could still use a few more Political Action Fund donations. You can donate as little as $2 per check which comes out to $52 per year.

AT&T> I am happy to say we have a steward for AT&T here in Seattle. Congratulations and thank you to Kimberly Oleary.

Avaya> Nothing to report at this time

CenturyLink/Lumen> We are currently fighting the company’s Link to Success and have filed at least 30 grievances. We will continue to fight this until the company stops disciplining people over this system with bad data. Remember to always ask for a steward at every step of the process. If it goes in your file then you are entitled to a steward. Thank you and congratulations to our five new Stewards at Lumen Andy Nguyen, Miles Darrell, Steve Johnson, Jason Ballena, and Pisopo Tauolo.

DGM> Nothing to report at this time.

Evoque> Congratulations and thank you to Michael Van Scyoc for becoming a Steward.

MV> We are still working on bargaining and plan to have a meeting on March 23rd.

I have joined the Fight Racism at Lumen Campaign and the team has a meeting scheduled with top level management this month. We have also made the campaign to unionize the non-represented Lumen employees known. If you know anyone that works for Lumen and does not belong to the union please direct them to the website. It is , Please instruct them to fill out the survey.

Please be safe, wear your mask, and pay attention to your surroundings.

In Solidarity,

Art Clemens
