Presidents Report January 2021

I want to wish everyone a happy and safe new year. Can you believe we finally made it out of 2020? In light of domestic terrorism that took place at the capitol last week and the reports that there will be protests at all capitols throughout the United States, I want to encourage everyone to be extra careful in the upcoming weeks. Things have been just about the same at work for those of us still working. I am planning a stewards training class in February or March so please let me know if you are interested in becoming a steward. I want to say thank you to all the officers that are taking on new roles and the ones that are staying in their roles for the next three years.

We are on hold for bargaining for IATSE and MV Transportation but hope to get back to the table soon now that the holidays are over.

We did the AVAYA contract vote in December using Election Buddy and that was a big success. We only have three AVAYA members, but Election Buddy is very reasonable and easy to participate in using. I am attempting to get emails for all members from all our bargaining units so that we can use Election Buddy for our larger contracts.

Thank you for all the hard work that each and every one of you do, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your local CWA 7800 President for three more years.

In Solidarity,

Art Clemens
