President’s Report July 2018

There is a lot going on right now in all of the bargaining units and within CWA as a whole. CWA 7800 is in the middle of its Member Appreciation, Political Action Fund, and Membership Drive. So far it has been a success, but we will still have a few places to visit. There are several ongoing grievances, as well as NLRB charges that are open and we hope to have them completed by the end of July. CWA 7800’s Vice President Karen Thompson’s last day with CenturyLink was July 2nd 2018. The Budget Committee has been working on the budget for the 4th quarter and it is ready to approve. The By-Law Committee has been working on some By-Law changes as well. We need more Stewards for all of our bargaining units.

AT&T> There are still ongoing negotiations and mobilization efforts.

Avaya> Nothing to report at this time.

CenturyLink> The ISPP is still ongoing and even though the company has backed off on some of the locations and the number of people in other locations, there will still be some of our union brothers and sisters that are forced to leave the company. If you read this and see or know of any contractors doing any work in our area, please contact me and let me know.

DGM> We have been working on the new contract and we are almost done. We ran into a small issue but we hope to have it worked out by July 16th, 2018.

IATSE> It appears the company is looking for a temporary Lead Dispatcher until a new permanent one can be hired.

MV Transportation> We are currently under an extension of the contract that will last through the end of August. The bargaining team has met and will continue to meet prior to meeting with the company in Late July. We will be trying to get corrected language for almost every article of the contract as well as a nice increase in wages.
